30DC - Day 1

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I just listened to the Day 1 podcast for the 30 Day Challenge, and I have to say, I love the intro! Fantastically catchy tune :)

The following points are drawn from my on-the-fly notes, so if they are a little stilted, I apologize.

Not a lot on the first day, just a quick introduction to what we will be learning over the next 29 days.

In the following order we will be learning 4 key things of Internet Marketing:

1) Market Research - This is very important, because the market decides what will sell, not you. The nice thing about the internet, is that it makes market research free. i remember back in the day having to pay a fair amount of money for any market research that was better than trivial. Hot tip: **small niche markets tend to succeed best**

2) Traffic - No traffic = no $$. It does not matter how good your product is, if you have no traffic, you have no customers. So we will be learning how to get traffic for free (free as in no money. We will be Investing time instead).

3) Conversion process - How to turn visitors into customers. What works, what doesn’t. Sales conversion. Ed also hints at Video as conversion/marketing tool(?). He also emphatically states that we won’t be writing long ot Sales Letters: apparently it is better to build a list. This is a concept that I have run across before, but never really explored. Looking forward to it.

4) Product - Either create a product or sell someone else’s product (not MLM!) Whatever the product is, you need deliver on the promis! No selling, sales letter, etc. He also alludes to the possibility of outsourcing the product creation. How he intends to do this for free, I don’t know, but I am looking forward to seeing what he has to say on this.

Finally, he gave us some action points: First to review the pre-training materials, then listen to the podcast and watch the video, and finally to jot down some ideas for niches/markets. Do not censor the ideas, that comes later, just write them down.

Not bad for a first day. The main thing that I got out of this, apart from a good feeling of what topics we would be covering, is the sense that Ed and crew are going to do their best to make this a fun experience. I am so looking forward to it!
