The Making of a Marc

Ange’s Contribution

It was late Wednesday afternoon when it happened. My ‘to-do” list was long, time was short, and my computer unexpectedly died. There was a puff of smoke, and everything went black, and that was the end of it. Honestly, my initial impulse was to throw a tantrum, indeed, a royal hissy fit. But I’m old enough to know that won’t solve anything, however tempting a prospect that might be. So, taking a deep breath, I went shopping for computer parts.

Maintaining an air of enforced calm, I installed the new motherboard, chip, memory, and power supply. Then I proceeded to install the operating system, set up my account, and give the computer over to the other family members so that they can do the same. Once it was my turn again, it was time to start catching up on email and rss. My enforced calm was rapidly becoming a rigid mask of thinly veiled stress, on the verge of cracking when I saw Ange’s latest post on the power of contribution.

The accompanying video served as a reminder that “this, too, shall pass”, and gave me the perspective I needed to get back to work, and stop worrying about the things that I can’t control.

Much of our stress comes from things that we can do nothing about, and yet we insist on fretting about these things, wasting valuable time and energy on them, energy that would be better spent on the things that will get us to where we want to go. Just deal with what’s in front of you, and let the rest worry about itself. You will be amazed by how much you will get done just by doing this one thing. I know it works for me.

Thanks, Ange, for that contribution.

Hey Marc… it\'s the little things in life that get us so caught up sometimes that we lose focus on the task at hand.

Learning to just \'let go and let God\' is a very good philosophy to live by. When we choose to just get on with it, everything seems to fall into place.

I\'m glad you got your computer working again… and I bet your family were grateful too :)

    Have an awesome day!
