Technorati recently launched a sister site called twitorati.com, a service that lists and indexes the top bloggers on twitters. Now before I get into this, there are a couple of things you need to know: first, I am at best, a casual twitterer. Second, I still don’t quite get it, though I think that I am starting to, at least in my own unique way. (Which isn’t saying much)
One of my main challenges as a twitter user had been trying to find people worth following. One of the first things that struck me about this service is how easy it is to follow someone interesting. The front page shows the most recent tweets from the highest authority bloggers. Clicking on the profile image takes you to their page, with a handy dandy “follow (name)” link. Click the link and and a nice little screen pops up either asking you to log into twitter, or if you are already logged in, asking you if you want to follow this person. I really like the integrated simplicity of this site. It’s so easy that even a twitter noob like me gets it. Below the “follow” link is a list of their recent tweets, making it easy to tell at a glance what they tweet about, and decide if you actually find them interesting.
That’s about as far as I have gotten with twittorati.com, but at least for me, it is more than enough. This service has greatly simplified my search for people worth following, allowing me to focus more on “getting it”, and less on “WTF?”.
You can follow me on twitter at twitter.com/techne1 And the best thing about doing that, is that I don’t tweet much. At least not yet
