M.D.Berry

M.D.Berry

The original M.D.Berry was the first site I ever hand coded from scratch using PHP. As that was a few years ago now, the client decided (rightly so) that it was time for an overhaul. The new site is Wordpress based, and much easier for her to use, both on the front end as well as the back.

Special considerations for the project were as follows: easy navigation and simple design, both visually as well as functionally. Additionally, the client isn’t a blogger so much as a site owner, so a static front page was a requirement, with any blogging as a distinct secondary consideration. Finally, the owner wanted me to use graphics of her own design.

Services included Wordpress installation and configuration, using client supplied graphics to create a custom Thematic themelet, and plugin selection, installation and configuration. Additional services are ongoing support, upgrades and maintenance, and WP instruction, as well as SEO and Social Marketing consulting.

A.K.Berry – akberry.com

akberry.com

akberry.com

AKBerry.com is a custom wordpress theme with a strong graphical sensibility, built for aspiring writer A. K. Berry. She wanted a theme that was visually rich and fanciful, reflecting her writing style without portraying specific stories or characters. The challenge for me was to create a graphically strong theme that did not detract from the text. Her only solid requirement was that it have a natural look, in the sense of nature.

Some of the trigger words that she used were “nature” and “green”, but did let me know that these were suggestions only. (It’s always nice to be given a fairly free hand.) The end result is one that she is quite pleased with, and proud to show. The final product is an eye-catching, graphically rich theme that slides easily into the background of our awareness, allowing visitors to focus on enjoying A. K.’s fiction.

Additional services for her included Wordpress training, and ongoing support.

Update: Ms. Berry decided that she wasn’t really the blogger type, so the site is now defunct. Too bad.
